Work

The Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Mission is working in almost 30 countries on five continents.

Africa

The mission's work is the broadest in Africa, working with local Lutheran churches as well as other foreign partners. The most important partnerships are with the Lutheran churches in Tanzania, Namibia, and Ethiopia. The mission is involved in preaching and church work, education, health care, administration, and different types of development projects.

Asia

Asia is dominated by the large religions of the world; such as Islam in Pakistan, Hinduism in Nepal, Buddhism in Thailand, Taoism and Confucianism in China. In the megacities Hong Kong and Bangkok, and in the cities of Taiwan the mission focuses on preaching and diakonia, in Pakistan on church work, education and health care. In Nepal the emphasis is on mental health care and development in poor mountain villages.

The Middle East, Oceania, and Latin America

In the Middle East, missionaries work both among the Jewish as well as the Arab populations doing church work with children, adults, and the elderly. In Venezuela the emphasis is on church work together with social work in the cities. In Oceania, in Papua New Guinea, the main emphasis is on Bible translation and literacy.

Europe

In Europe, the Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Mission has work in France, Russia, and Estonia. This is primarily church and youth work together with work among moslem immigrants.
