Development cooperation

The Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Mission (FELM) supports more than 60 development cooperation projects in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. The Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Mission is one of the largest non-governmental organisations in Finland.

In 2003, the Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Mission made a Partnership Agreement with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland. In addition to the general principles of development cooperation, the agreement indicates also Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Mission´s annual allotment of the Government funding. The current funding agreement covers the period of 2007-2010.

In 2007, The Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Mission received 5.791,341 euros as funding from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The self-financing of the Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Mission for the projects was 15 %, i.e. 1.022,001 euros in 2007. The total annual development cooperation budget was 6.813,342 euros in 2007. Some cooperation projects employ Finnish personnel. The governmental funding provided by the Partnership Agreement also entails administration costs, project planning and evaluation costs, as well as PR support.
