The Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Mission (FELM) is a mission organisation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland. Founded in 1859, FELM operates in about 30 countries on five continents.
The motto of FELM is ‘Love, Faith, Hope – from people to people’. It reflects FELM´s holistic approach to mission work, including the preaching of the Gospel and service as a response to the Gospel.
The annual budget of approximately EUR 28 million is generated through the contributions of congregations, other church organisations and individual donors. FELM has a partnership agreement with the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland regarding the funding of NGO-based development projects.
FELM employs 350 staff members, of whom 220 work in mission capacities in about 20 countries.
FELM organises its operation into five programmes: ministry and congregational work, social justice and diaconia, sustainable governance and finances, peace and reconciliation, HIV and AIDS.
FELM has a partnership agreement with the Lutheran World Federation. It participates as an observer within the ACT Development cooperative alliance and is a member of the Ecumenical Advocacy Alliance. FELM has observer status within the Finnish Ecumenical Council.
